Welcome to St. Joseph Co-Cathedral! I am delighted to have you visit our website to learn more about this thriving historical parish in downtown Thibodaux, Louisiana, just blocks from the banks of beautiful Bayou Lafourche.
While our parish dates back to the early 1800's, the present Renaissance Romanesque-style edifice is 100 years old. The awe-inspiring interior is complemented with statuary and traditional symbols of faith, hope, and love, the same qualities found in our faithful members whose ancestors have worshipped here for generations and instilled in us all "joie de vivre," that joy of life that we in the bayou country still practice today.
Here at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, one of two cathedrals serving the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux in the southern most part of Louisiana, we are committed to inviting and supporting every parishioner to become a disciple of Christ, building God's kingdom through our prayer, service, and outreach to others in faith. We strive to bring to life the words of our Mission Statement: "to build a diverse Christian family united in vibrant worship and dedicated to the Gospel through service, evangelization and celebration of the sacraments. We are committed to making our parish church a vital part of the lives of our people."
If there is anything we can do to help you in your daily walk with God, please do not hesitate to call me or a member of our parish staff. If a personal or family need arises, please know that our parish staff is always available to assist you in any way we can.
I pray that you may find warmth, encouragement and spiritual growth in our parish. I look forward to getting to know you personally in the weeks and months ahead and share with you the "joie de vivre" that I have grown to enjoy so much in this South Louisiana culture. May God bless you and your family.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Very Rev. Vicente deLa Cruz, Pastor
